The course "Data-Driven Discovery: Bioinformatics and Computational Biology" offers a comprehensive exploration of the interdisciplinary field, providing insights into the integration of data analysis, biological sciences, and computational methodologies. Beginning with an introduction to bioinformatics, participants delve into the basics of computational biology, tools, databases, and various analytical techniques used in sequence and structural analysis. The course progresses to cover extensive areas such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, systems biology, and pharmacogenomics. Furthermore, it delves into advanced applications in personalized medicine, metagenomics, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and ethical considerations within bioinformatics. Throughout the series of lectures, the focus is on fostering an understanding of how computational approaches drive innovation in biological research, paving the way for the future of computational biology.
At the end of the program, students will receive a certificate & performance letter by the eductor indicating that they have completed the program and acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen profession.
Data-Driven Discovery: Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, by Mukta Bansal
Dr. Bansal joined SCBE, NTU in Feb’14. She is teaching CH3101 (Chemical and Biomedical Process Dynamics and Control), co-teaching CH3114 (Biochemical Engineering), Computational Methods (CH2107 and BG2111) and managing end to end CH4801 (Final Year Design Project).
Dr. Bansal has several years of teaching experience. She is friendly and approachable which is liked and appreciated by our students.
Her explanation of difficult and complex topics in a systematic and logical way helped our students to understand the concepts better. She has received consistently excellent Teaching Feedback from Students for all courses.
Besides teaching, she is interested in the pedagogical research.
