Dividend Policy: How to Pay Back Shareholders, by Faris Shah
Faris Saah has over twenty years of experience in the financial services industry. In 2013, he co-founded Avalon Capital Management, a fixed income alternative asset management firm focused on collateralized loan obligations. Prior to founding Avalon, Faris was a managing director and the head of credit research for the United States in the Customized Credit Strategies Unit of GSO Capital Partners LP. He served on both the management committee and investment committee and was responsible for a team of sixteen industry sector analysts. Prior to GSO, Faris was a senior vice president in Pequot Capital Management's long/short and short-only credit hedge funds. Prior to Pequot, Faris had extensive experience as a distressed credit analyst. Finally, Faris held investment banking positions at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan. Faris graduated cum laude with a BS in industrial engineering and operations research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and received an MS (with distinction) in management science and finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management where he is currently part of the Sloan master of finance admissions team.
I have spent over 25 years in the leveraged finance and private equity industries. I currently run a financial services advisory firm and teach various Finance/PE courses at Harvard University. Prior to launching Quansoo Partners, I was MD, Head of Credit Research at The Blackstone Group. Prior to Blackstone I spent 10 years in distressed and HY credit investing at Mariner Group and Pequot Capital Management. Prior to joining the buyside, I worked as a Lev Fin/PE banker at Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan.
