Sergei Chernyshenko
Professor, Imperial College London
Topic: Fluid-Structure Interaction in
Aerostatic Platforms
Period: 1.5 Months

Sergei Chernyshenko is a Professor of Aerodynamics in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London. His long-term research aims at most challenging problems in fluid mechanics, and his short studies are of a wide scope involving practical applications. Another long-term research area is the theory of organized structures, scale interaction, and drag reduction in turbulent flows. Prof. Chernyshenko made a major contribution to the high-Reynolds number asymptotic theory of separated flows. Areas of short-term studies are exemplified by hydraulically-driven centrifuges, aerostatic platforms, rotating stall in axial compressors, and heat and mass transfer in supersonic separated flows. Sergei is passionate about passing on knowledge to those who seek it. In2008-2024 he served as the Director of MSc in Advanced Computational Methods.
