I am a Professor at the Divinity School at the University of Edinburgh and Dean international for the Middle East. My research interests are in the field of Christian-Muslim studies and classical Islamic law and literature I also work with higher education sectors in the USA and the Middle East and welcome enquiries for personal and institutional collaboration. I am also a regular contributor to a variety of media especially BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio Scotland on programmes such as Thought for the Day and Moral Maze. I am keen to expand my media work. I also write expert reports for legal cases in the areas of Islamic law and cultures and welcome enquiries from legal firms I am a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Honorary Member of the Royal Scottish Academy.
